Spring 2013

Its been awhile since i’ve posted up my own thoughts. This semester has gone by too fast. I wish i could relive some of the times simply cause those times have been the best of college so far.

It started off like any semester with classes. I was a bit sad simply cause of what happened during winter break. I finally decided to try out APO by picking up a flyer from my friend and actually decided to attend. First event for me was the BBQ. When I first got there, I was a bit intimidated by the amount of people there. I met a lot of people there that day and I remember getting a comment saying I look like mike chang from glee…. (thanks?) It was a cool hangout, we had to do this scavenger hunt and in the end I had to leave early. The next event was info night. I went there alone and this one guy just randomly came up to me and just sat next to and we began talking. We continued talking about APO and what it was and whether or not we were going to go to pinning night. I was already pretty convinced on going through with it while he was still hesitant. I ended up convincing him and we became pretty good bros later on.

Fast forward to pinning night and here we are getting our pins, meeting someone who we’re going to be calling sponsor for the rest of our lives basically. That night was really overwhelming. I met so many people that night, by the end of the night I honestly didn’t remember any of their names but just one, my sponsor. She was a cutie i gotta say and plus she was really happy and excited that night. That night we met our papas which i already knew one of them from a different organization. The other was the guy who called me the mike chang look-a-like. That night was overall a blur simply cause of all the things that was going on.

Pledging. This is probably one of the most amazing experiences anyone can have during their college career. It started off with everyone being all shy and shit and trying to get to know each other. As a class that started with 37 pledges, we immediately went down to 35 in the second week and then 34 by the third week. I didn’t know who those people were so in my book i really didn’t care when they left. After that, pledging was crazy. Late night snaking. Lots of In n out eating. Constantly in the library studying or trying to get our requirements done. Words really can’t describe this experience. Best part of this whole thing is the people I’ve met. My pledge siblings are all pretty awesome in their own way. I wish I got to know them more than I do right now….. One of the most memorable things of pledging was when we got our bigs. That day was perfect, i got someone who i was compatible with and could go talk to for whatever reason. As pledging came to an end, things went down. TP as 34 went down to 33. I hated seeing my pledge bro get dped by the chapter and in a way lost respect for the chapter. Activation came and that was pretty cool. Got some paddles with some letters on it. Even though I lost some respect for GB I still decided to run for excomm as the SAA with my big. We got the position and what was even better was that i beat one of my papas for that position. I’m looking forward for next semester and hoping to see what kind of interesting things await me.

WHO ARE WE?

TP!
